FAIRPORT, NY — Miller Kay adds his name to this year’s tender class as he signs with the Rochester Jr. Americans!
Kay was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on June 20, 2006. The past season, he played for Mount St. Charles Academy 18U AAA producing 43 points in 54 games. Prior to that, he suited up for the Renfrew Wolves U18 AAA in the Hockey Eastern Ontario. There he served as captain and produced 51 points in 55 games.
Kay played for the Jr. Americans U18 Prospects Team at the 2024 NAHL Prospects Challenge in Blaine, MN last month. At the event he tallied four points in four games. According to his Elite Prospects profile, Kay stands 5′ 10″ 183lbs. He is expected to compete for a spot with the Jr. Amerks at Main Camp in late July.
NAHL teams are allowed six import players on their active roster. An import player is defined as a player who is a non-United States citizen. Being so young, Kay will have a lot to prove.
A tender is a contract, of sorts. A player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders – plus or minus any trades. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft.
Congratulations on signing your tender with the Jr. Amerks Miller!
