Fairport, N.Y. — The Rochester Jr. Americans are proud to announce they have signed former United States Hockey League forward Ben Osiashvili.
The pickup of Osiashvili could be significant, not just right away but for years to come. Born in 2006, he possesses immense potential with three years of eligibility in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
Osiashvili most recently played 14 games in the USHL for the Omaha Lancers. Only one other Jr. Amerks player to play a game in the USHL was this past season’s captain Tyler Procious. Previously to junior hockey, Osiashvili played with South Kent School notching 40 points in 55 games.
At 17 years old, Osiashvili stands at 5’10, 167 lbs, with potential to mature with age. Osiashvili is originally from Hewlett, N.Y. which is on Long Island. You can view his Elite Prospects profile here.
A tender is a contract, of sorts. A player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team and he may not be recruited by any other team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders – plus or minus any trades. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft.
Welcome to Rowdy Town, U.S.A. Ben!
