TENDER ALERT: Jr. Americans Proudly Ink Deal with Ben Darche

May 28, 2024

Fairport, N.Y. — The Rochester Jr. Americans are proud to announce they have signed forward Ben Darche!

Darche joins the Jr. Americans after just wrapping up his third season while serving as captain for Choate Rosemary Hall. It was statically by far his best season, totaling 12 goals and 21 points in 25 games. He has seen growth in each year of his deveolpment.

He’s a goal scorer. According to Darche’s Elite Prospects profile, he has more goals than assists in just about every year of his career. Standing 6’1” Darche already has a mix of power and athleticism but likely will continue to grow into his body as he trains. Born in 2005, he’ll join the Jr. Amerks with two years of NAHL eligibility.

The Montreal, QC native comes from an incredibly athletic family. His father Mathieu was a long-time professional hockey player suiting up for 250 NHL games between 2000 – 2012. As an undrafted forward, he carved a career with five NHL teams including Montreal, San Jose, Tampa, Nashville and Columbus.

Following his playing career, in 2019 Mathieu joined the Tampa Bay Lighting front office as Director of Director of Hockey Operations. In 2022 he was promoted to Assistant General Manager which is his current position today.

A tender is a contract, of sorts. A player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team and he may not be recruited by any other team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders – plus or minus any trades. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft.

We can’t wait to see you in the red, white, and blue Ben. Congratulations and welcome to Rowdy Town!
